Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

Mapou Yanga-M'Biwa is a Central African Republic defender who currently plays for Lyon. His family moved to France when he was eight and he joined Montpellier in 2005, making his pro debut two years later in a 1-0 defeat to Bastia. He played his early days as a full-back and centre-back, but as MHSC won the league title in 2012, he was well established as a central defender and won his first caps for France. He moved to Newcastle United in January 2013 for £8.5 million, but he never settled, joining AS Roma on a season-long loan in 2014. His time in Italy was more successful, leading to Lyon to pay €8 million for him in August 2015.
