Kylian Mbappe Lottin is a professional footballer born on December 20th 1998 in Paris, France. His ancestry is mixed since his father is from Cameroon and his mother from Algeria. Mbappe started his football career at AS Bondy where he was coached by his father. Early in his youth, he briefly moved to Clairefontaine academy and impressed Monaco scouts who brought him to the club when he was only fifteen years old.

He spent a couple of years in Monaco’s youth ranks before playing a season in Monaco B. He made his professional debut for the club when he was only 16. Mbappe was a crucial piece of a great Monaco team that won the league in 2017 and reached the Champions League semi-finals the same year where they were eliminated by Juventus.

The very next season he made transfer news when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a loan with the obligation to buy. The 21-year-old won three consecutive titles with PSG since his arrival and played in the Champions League final in 2020, which PSG eventually lost to Bayern Munich.

The prolific striker also had a lot of success with the national team. He made his debut for France in 2017, still as a teenager. In fact, he was still a teenager when he played for France in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Not only that, but he became the first teenager since Pele to score a goal in the finals, helping his team beat Croatia to become world champions.

Mbappe already has an impressive list of individual accomplishments, including being recognized as League 1 Player of the Year in 2019, being named UEFA Golden Boy in 2017 and being the top goalscorer in League 1 on two occasions. He also won the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award in 2018.

Kylian Mbappe Transfers and Rumours

  • 2013: AS Bondy to Monaco – Free Transfer
  • 2017: Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain– £130 million

After a successful youth career with AS Bondy and Clairefontaine academy, Mbappe was on the radar of many French and European clubs. In fact, he almost beat transfer odds early in his life since he was on a trial at Chelsea when he was only 11 years old. Other clubs were also expressing interest, directly or through football whispers, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern, Munich, Manchester City, etc.

Mbappe eventually signed for Monaco and after spending some time in their youth ranks, he made his debut at only 16 years of age. By the time he was 19, he already won League 1 with Monaco and became one of PSG’s main transfer targets.

At first, those were just transfer rumours and gossip but it soon became reality. He joined PSG on loan for a year before they made the move permanent. PSG eventually paid a reported fee of £130 million in 2018, with more to be included in add-ons, making Mbappe the most expensive teenager in history and the second most expensive player overall – behind his PSG teammate Neymar.

Mbappe is only 21 years old and he has two years left in his contract with PSG. Rumours are already starting to circulate about his next destination, with Real Madrid emerging as strong favourites to bring the French forward to Santiago Bernabeu.
