Jermain Defoe is an English striker, born on 7th October 1982, who plays for Rangers. Defoe started his career with West Ham, building a reputation as a reliable finisher before joining Tottenham in 2004. After a four year stint with the North London club, the striker signed permanently for Portsmouth, but only remained on the south coast for 12 months, returning to White Hart Lane in January 2009. Having seen his playing time decrease, despite still being one of the country’s best finishers, Defoe joined Toronto FC in 2014. His spell in MLS came to an end when he transferred to Sunderland in January 2015, scoring key goals for the club in both 2014-15 and 2015-16. Defoe made his senior international debut in 2004 and featured at the 2010 World Cup. In January 2019, the former England man moved to Scottish side Rangers, on loan for 18 months.
