A tough-tackling and tenacious midfielder, Jefferson Lerma was born in Cerrito, Colombia, on October 25, 1994. He began his professional career with Atlético Huila before moving to Europe in August 2015 to sign for LaLiga side Levante on loan. He impressed sufficiently and signed permanently in a deal worth €600,000.
The 2018 World Cup brought Lerma to a global audience and he shone as Los Cafeteros were knocked out in the last-16 by England. Following the summer's tournament in Russia, Lerma signed for Bournemouth for a club-record €30million.
