Jadon Malik Sancho is a professional English footballer. Sancho was born on March 25th, 2000 and he plays for Borussia Dortmund. Sancho is a very creative player, quite technical and known for his dribbling, pace and agility. He is rated as one of the best young players in the world and he is already a sought-after commodity by some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Sancho started his football career in Watford’s youth ranks at the age of seven. He was a part of their youth academy until he turned 14 when he decided to move to Manchester City. After three years, when he was 17 years old, Sancho expected playing time at City. However, the club failed to provide and promise him playing time, so he tried to engineer a move to another club. Ultimately, he was sold to Borussia where he signed his first senior contract and was included without hesitation in the first-team squad.
When he entered the game against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 21st, he became the first English player to play for Dortmund in Bundesliga. In his three years at the club, Sancho became a vital part of the team and was included in the team of the season in 2019. His only trophy with Borussia yet is the German Supercup in 2019.
Sancho was part of all youth teams for England national team and won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017. He also played in the finals of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship that same year and was given the Golden Player award. He made his debut for the England senior team in 2018 and has already collected 17 appearances for the national team.
Jadon Sancho Transfers and Rumours
2014: Watford to Manchester City – £66,000
2017: Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund – £8 million
After spending his formative years at Watford, Sancho moved to Manchester City. The fee paid was set at £66,000 according to Elite Player Development Plan (EPPP) but it could eventually rise to £500,000.
His next move was from Manchester City to the popular German club Borussia Dortmund. Borussia is a team known for developing young players, which made Sancho one of their ideal transfer targets and his decision to move there pretty intelligent. The fee that Dortmund paid for Sancho was in the region of £8 million.
The English winger has proven his talent at Borussia Dortmund and gauged interest from a few different European clubs, increasing his transfer odds. According to some rumours and gossip, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona were all interested in Sancho at one point.
However, football whispers confirmed that the most concrete interest came from Manchester United. In the summer of 2020, the Red Devils have sent a few formal bids for Sancho, all of which were rejected by the Germans. The highest reported bid according to transfer rumours was in the region of £90 million but Dortmund refused to budge from their reported asking price of at least £100 million. It is expected for Manchester United to try again in the winter transfer window, so it is quite possible for Sancho to make transfer news again and end up at Old Trafford in 2021.
