Ilkay Gündoğan is a German international central midfielder who plays for Manchester City. Born to Turkish parents in Gelsenkirchen on October 24, 1990, the midfielder started his career with VFL Bochum. In 2009, Gundogan moved to FC Nürnburg, where he made 48 league appearances over a two-year spell before moving to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2011.
Gundogan remained at Dortmund until 2016 – when he moved to Manchester City – as the German club enjoyed one of their most successful periods under the management of Jürgen Klopp.
