Sebastiano Esposito is an Italian football player who plays as a striker. He was born on July 2nd, 2002 in Castellammare di Stabia, a small town in the Naples municipality. Esposito is one of the best Italian prospects and one of the most talented young strikers in Europe.

The striker began his career with Brescia awhen he was only 9 years old. He spent three years at the club before moving to Internazionale Milan youth academy. This was a big step forward for Esposito and his development, as well as his ambition to play on the big stage.

After spending five years at Inter youth academy, he was moved to the senior team in 2019. He made his professional debut for the club when he was only 16 years old, coming in as a substitute in the Europa League match against Eintracht Frankfurt. By doing this, he became the youngest player in Inter’s history to appear in a European match.

The following season he also became the second-youngest Inter player to feature in the Champions League. A few days later he finally made his Serie A debut. His first goal for the club in Serie A came from a penalty in a win against Genoa.

After spending an entire season in the first team at Inter, Esposito was sent on loan to SPAL to gain match experience in Serie B. In 2020, Esposito was nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award.

Esposito also had some success with the national team since he was a part of the Italian squad that reached the final of the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Despite being only 18 years old, Esposito also made his debut for the Under-21 team.

Sebastiano Esposito Transfers and Rumours

  • 2014: Brescia to Inter – Free Transfer

Sebastiano Esposito is one of the premier Italian talents and, as such, he is always interesting to other clubs. While he failed to make transfer news so far, many rumours circulated about interest from Paris Saint-Germain and a few other big clubs looking to secure a striker for the future.

In addition to this, it is far from gossip that many Italian clubs wanted Esposito as well. This primarily includes Atalanta and Fiorentina, both of which enquired about his availability for a permanent move.

However, Esposito has signed a new contract with Inter after he turned 18 and the plan was to loan him out to a club where he would receive significant playing time. Although Parma, Torino and Hellas Verona showed a bit of interest for a loan, Esposito ended up at SPAL where he would get more chances since the team plays in Serie B.

Some may see this as a step back for the youngster who already played in Serie A and European competitions but regular playing time is crucial for his development at this point. In any case, we certainly won’t see Esposito moving from Inter in the near future. Of course, an amazing offer might be too tempting for Inter to refuse but the chances of that are slim at this time.
