Enzo Pérez

Enzo Perez is a Argentine midfielder who plays for River Plate. Born on 22nd February 1986, Perez began his youth career in Deportivo Maipu, before he moved to Godoy Cruz to start his professional career. Spending four years at Godoy Cruz, Perez completed over 80 appearances and scored 12 goals, mainly from the penalty spot. In 2007, Perez joined Estudiantes de La Plata, where he finished as runner-up with the team in the 2008 Copa Sudamericana. From the 2008/09 season, Perez became a regular starter for the club and played a role in helping the side to win the 2009 Copa Libertadores. On 8 June 2011, he completed his €5.5 million move to Benfica, signing on a five-year contract. Once he sustained a serious knee injury, on 9 February 2012, the club sent Perez back to Estudiantes for six months. In the 2012–13 season, Pérez formed a strong partnership with Nemanja Matic in central midfield as he completed just under 30 league appearances for Benfica. During the summer of 2014, Perez won the Player of the Year award. On 2 January 2015, La Liga club Valencia CF signed Perez for a transfer fee of €25 million. Two days later, he completed his debut for the side in a 2-1 victory against Real Madrid. Perez has made over 15 appearances for his country, after he was given his debut on 30 September 2009 by Diego Maradona.
