Dusan Tadic is a Serbian football player who plays for Ajax as an attacking midfielder and captains the national team of Serbia. He was born on November 20th 1988 in Backa Topola, a small town in Serbia. Tadic started his career with the local club AIK Backa Topola before he moved to Vojvodina youth academy at the age of 14.
He made his debut for Vojvodina’s first team at the age of 18, in 2006. During his time with the club, he played in more than 100 games and displayed excellent playmaking abilities. Tadic was very talented and drew attention from other clubs as one of their transfer targets.
In 2010, Tadic moved to Groningen where he spent two seasons and continued his development. In 2012, he was bought by Twente, another Dutch team. At Twente, Tadic further proved himself as a creative player and he made transfer news once again when he moved to Southampton to play in the Premier League.
Tadic didn’t really prove just how good he is while he was with Southampton. He showed glimpses of quality from time to time – like his three assists in one match against Manchester City in 2016. Overall, Tadic was a standard piece of the first team at Southampton but he really proved his worth with his next club, Ajax.
The midfielder moved to Ajax in 2018, which was an atypical move for the club that usually buys and develops youngsters. However, it was a brilliant move – Tadic established himself as one of the best players in the world and led the team to a domestic double and Champions League semi-finals, where they were narrowly eliminated by Tottenham due to a late goal. Tadic received recognition for his season by being named in the Champions League Squad of the Season and nomination for the Ballon d’Or award.
Dusan Tadic made his debut for Serbia in 2008. He was made captain during the 2018 World Cup qualifications and led his team to qualify for the tournament.
