Dimitrios Petratos

Dimitri Petratos, born on 10th November 1992, is an Australian attacking midfielder who plays for Newcastle Jets.  After impressing with amateur side Penrith Nepean United, Petratos was picked up by Sydney FC in 2010 and established a reputation for being one of the country’s major youth prospects. He scored his first senior goal against Gold Coast United and followed that up with a brace in the New South Wales derby against Central Coast Mariners. However, following a reported training ground bust-up with Zeljko Kalac, Petratos requested for and was granted a release from Sydney, allowing him to sign for Malaysian Super League champions, Kelantan. Due to foreign player restrictions in the MSL, Petratos could only play in the AFC Cup where Kelantan were knocked out at the quarter-final stage. He moved back to Australia in 2013, signing for Brisbane Roar
