Dele Alli is an English footballer who plays as a central midfielder. Alli was born on 11 April 1996 in the English town of Milton Keynes. After initially choosing City Colts, Alli went on to sign up with Milton Keynes Dons youth setup in 2007 as 11-year-old. It was not long before Alli started making a noise in the football whispers segment with some extraordinary performances for the youth team. Soon, it was time for Alli to make an impression in the first team and he was given an opportunity to make his debut in 2012 when he was just 16 years old.
Alli was in the transfer news segment soon enough after managing to score his first goal just a week after his debut. From the 2013-14 campaign, Alli was a regular for MK Dons in League One. He made six goals from his 33 appearances in his full campaign with the club. The 2014-15 campaign further reinforced the transfer rumours surrounding the midfielder, as he came up with 16 goals in 39 matches – a great tally for the midfielder.
The gossip columns started featuring Alli on a more regular basis and with an eye for featuring in the higher levels of the English football tier. However, the transfer odds were left stunned in 2015 when Tottenham came in for the midfielder with a £6 million offer. Spurs had been in the process of buying talented young English footballers, but Alli entering into the squad was a major surprise considering the midfielder was still plying his trade in League One. Alli was immediately loaned back to MK Dons to further his development and conclude the 2014-15 campaign.
Immediately after returning to Tottenham’s squad in the summer of 2015, Alli was included in the first team and he went on to make his debut against Manchester United. Alli would make a major leap from League One to the Premier League by featuring in 33 matches in his first season. Yet, the midfielder returned with an incredible figure of 10 goals, which reinforced the idea behind Spurs making Alli as one of their top transfer targets back in January 2015.
The 2016-17 campaign was a remarkable breakthrough for the midfielder, who was playing in a more advanced role to support striker Harry Kane. This brought the best out of Alli, who ended up scoring 18 goals in 37 games. The midfielder is yet to match this incredible campaign.
