Bakary Sako is a Mali international forward who signed for in August 2015. Born on 26th April 1988 in Ivry-sur-Seine, France, Sako began his career as a youth player with Ligue 2 side Chateauroux – and made his professional debut in May 2006. Sold to Ligue 1 St Etienne in July 2009, the powerful winger went on to play over 100 times for the les verts before a £4m move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2012. He was part of the Wolves squad that was relegated from and promoted back to the Championship in his first two seasons in English football. At the end of his contract at Molineux, Crystal Palace signed him on a free transfer in August 2015. Sako is a former France U21 international but elected to play for Mali at senior level, including the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament.
