Arouna Koné is an Ivory Coast international striker currently playing for Sivasspor. Born on 11th November 1983, Koné began his career with Ivorian side Rio Sport before spending a year with Belgian club Lierse SK. The pacy forward was at Roda JC between 2003 and 2006 – although he spent the 2005/6 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven – before a permanent move in July 2006, where he would win back-to-back Eredivisie titles with PSV. Sevilla paid €12 million for the striker in September 2007 but a serious knee injury kept him out for six months, and on his return he was loaned to Hannover 96 and Levante before a permanent move to Wigan Athletic for £3m in August 2012. Having won the FA Cup in 2013, Everton met his £6m release clause in July 2013 but a recurrence of his knee problems saw him miss over a year on Merseyside – he scored a Premier League hat-trick against Sunderland in November 2015. Koné has over 35 caps for the Ivory Coast – he represented his country in the 2006 African Cup of Nations final and at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
