André Gomes is a Portuguese midfielder who was born in Grijó on July 30, 1993. Gomes spent time in the youth set-ups at Porto and Boavista before moving to Benfica. In October 2012, Gomes made his Primeira Liga debut against Gil Vicente, scoring as Benfica won. Despite a good run for the senior team, Gomes mainly played for the reserve teams and only July 2014, he agreed a one-season loan deal move to Valencia CF.

After an impressive campaign with the LaLiga side, Valencia and Benfica were able to come to an agreement the following the summer as Gomes signed a five-year deal with the Spanish club. After a single season at the Mestalla, Barcelona signed Gomes a year later for €35million. Gomes joined Everton two year later, initially on loan before making the switch permanent in the summer of 2019.
