A number of highly talented youngsters have failed to make the grade at Real Madrid since Zinedine Zidane took over as the manager for the first spell. It is reported that winger Martin Odegaard could soon be joining the list of illustrious players like Mateo Kovacic, Alvaro Morata, Theo Hernandez, Dani Ceballos, and more. Arsenal are looking to profit situation by making an enquiry for Martin Odegaard. The move could initially be a loan deal which could be converted into a permanent deal if the transfer works out well.
Odegaard was signed by Madrid as a player with incredible potential and someone who could become a future superstar. After moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, though, Odegaard failed to get much action amidst a sea of superstars. A couple of loan moves followed for the midfielder but he has recently been doing extremely well.
The Norwegian returned to the Santiago Bernabeu after a strong loan spell with Real Sociedad in the 2019-20 season. Since his return, though, he has been struggling a lot with action coming in the form of the few minutes in every match. So far, he has made nine appearances in all competitions but he has failed to complete 90 minutes in any of those appearances. After being left out of the Copa del Rey match against third division opponent CD Alcoyano, it is widely speculated that Zidane has conveyed his opinion about the midfielder.
Despite coming up against a lower tier opponent, Madrid performed poorly and ended up losing 2-1 after extra time.
Arsenal are not the only club are looking to stay in contention for the midfielder. It is rumoured that Real Sociedad are also enquiring about the availability of the player. A move back for the 22-year-old, who had so much success at the Reale Arena last season, could be ideal for all parties.
