Wilfried Zaha is currently a free agent after the expiration of his contract at Crystal Palace, with whom he continues to train with as he recovers from injury. However, he has been heavily linked with several clubs over the summer, most notably Turkish side Galatasaray. Here, we provide an update with everything you need to know over this possible switch.
As mentioned, Zaha has still been a regular at Palace's Beckenham based training ground in recent times, and it is not totally ruled out he signs up again with the Selhurst Park outfit. The Premier League side tabled a £200,000-per-week offer some time ago, but he is yet to sign this as he considers his options.
The Daily Mail understands that probably the standout offer Zaha has received has come from Galatasaray, with a contract worth approximately a whopping £8million-a-year pointed in his direction. The 30-year-old therefore has a big decision to make in that regard, but with him currently being a free agent, there is no immediate pressure to sign before any upcoming deadline.
Nevertheless, Zaha, who made two appearances for Manchester United in 2013-14, has also been the subject of interest from other clubs from across the globe. The Daily Mail states that those who make the footballing decisions in Saudi Arabia believe Zaha could be an asset to their league, whilst Galatasaray's arch rivals, Fenerbahce, still believe they can snap up the tricky winger.
Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Lazio are others to be heavily linked with a move for Zaha, who is still to recover from a hamstring injury sustained in Crystal Palace's 2-0 Premier League home victory over Bournemouth in May. It is believed Galatasaray want to get this deal over the line as soon as possible however, and offering UEFA Champions League football could be the deciding factor for Zaha.
Wilfried Zaha: Where will be play his football next season?
It would appear that the most concrete interest coming from outside of Crystal Palace is from Galatasaray. The opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League may ultimately be something the Ivory Coast international forward finds too good to resist. At 30, he may struggle to command a move to a very top bracket European club, unless PSG make a serious move.
However, something else makes for interesting reading. The betting odds set by Bet Victor reveal that signing for a team in either Serie A or Ligue 1 is the joint-favourite, with Saudi Arabia narrowly behind. If there are legs in those particular rumours, then maybe Galatasaray have a serious fight on their hands to lure Zaha to the club.
