Women’s Champions League top scorer betting: Paralluelo vs Diani

The Women's Champions League returns this week where the likes of Chelsea, Lyon and Barcelona are all campaigning for the trophy. Those three clubs lead the way as the highest-scoring sides in the competition too, so we’ll take a look at who could take home the top scorer award.

Chelsea's star striker has five goals in the Champions League this season, matching her record from the last campaign, and she continues to be one of the best players over in England. However, she is now out with an ACL injury, leaving two potential candidates to battle it out.

Women's Champions League top scorer betting: Paralluelo vs Diani

Salma Celeste Paralluelo

Can anyone rival Barcelona for the title? The record-breaking Spanish giants have barely been touched for the past five years in the Primera Division, and they have now put together a stunning record of 65 goals scored and just three let in within the league after winning all 14 games. In fact, they've lost only three times in the past five league seasons.

The club have also won the Champions League twice within this period, and with Salma Celeste Paralluelo leading the way with five goals netted from five outings, Barcelona likely go all the way once again.

Naturally, going all the way to the final means more games, hence why Paralluelo is the favourite to grab the top scorer award. She has also secured herself seven goals in eight matches in the league this campaign and is well on her way to establishing herself as the player of the season across all of Europe.

Kadidiatou Diani

Moving onto another side who could end up challenging Barcelona is Lyon. The Division 1 Féminine side boast of the talent of Kadidiatou Diani, who like the two players mentioned above, has five goals in the Champions League so far.

Lyon are also the record holders of the Women's Champions League by securing eight titles since 2010/11, meaning they have only failed to win the competition on three occasions within the past 12 seasons. With this in mind, Diani and co. could well go all the way, and we don’t think it would surprise anyone if they did.

However, Diani is not in her best goalscoring season. She did indeed net 17 in 17 for Paris last season in the league, alongside six finishes in nine Champions League games. However, she only has three in 10 Division 1 Féminine matches until this point.
