Two summers ago Abdoulaye Doucouré wasn't wanted at Watford. When the transfer window opens in a little over two months time the Hornets will be fending off interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Frenchman moved to Vicarage Road from Rennes in January 2016 but was immediately loaned to then sister club Granada. When he returned Walter Mazzarri had been placed in charge and did not fancy Doucouré.
Surplus to requirements, the former French youth international agreed to join Lorient on loan for the 2016/17 campaign. But the paperwork was filed 33 seconds too late and Doucouré remained with Watford.
The rest is history.
The rangy midfielder gradually changed the stubborn Mazzarri's mind and forced his way into the Italian's starting XI, universally impressing. Doucouré has carried that form into this season and is Watford's top scorer with seven goals.
But there's much more to his game than goals alone and you can find out exactly why the Premier League's elite are so keen to snap up the 25-year-old this summer with our video above.
