Football Manager’s scouting system is legendary. The club’s database is so detailed, with scouts across the world, that it’s been used to find stars of the future by professional football clubs.

In fact, Alex McLeish’s son recommended Lionel Messi to him when the Argentine was a relatively unknown teenager – the then-Rangers boss must really regret not listening to him.

Scouting is changing in recent years, with data being at the forefront for many clubs when they look to sign a player – the likes of Fulham, for example, won’t bring in a player unless his stats pass their model.

And in the latest edition of Football Manager, creators Sports Interactive have completely revamped the scouting system, working with real clubs to make it an even more realistic representation of how they sign players.

That also means added relevance for data analysts who were introduced in last year's game to little effect.

When you play the game, it’s great scouting a 14-year-old Belarussian kid, signing him and helping turn him into the one of the best players in the worlds.

And now, with the revamped scouting system, it will surely be even better.

With the latest edition of Football Manager on sale on November 10, it’s time to start seeing your friends as your social life is about to disappear down the drain.

You can watch the video which explains more about the new scouting system above.
