There are some exciting selections from the UEFA Champions League goal time betting market as UEFA's premier competition continues this week. Below, we look at which teams could be among the fast starters or late flourishers in the upcoming round of 16 ties.
UEFA Champions League goal time betting prediction – games in focus
Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid (0-30 mins)
Inter Milan have been sensational in Serie A this season and they lead the Italian title race by ten points. They are a team on a mission to avenge last season's Champions League final defeat to Manchester City but they will have to get past Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 in a tricky tie.
Inter have been quick starters all season and have scored four goals inside the opening 30 minutes in their last four matches. Atletico Madrid are also a threat in the opening 30 minutes of matches with Diego Simeone's side netting twice inside the opening half an hour in their La Liga match against Las Palmas at the weekend.
Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann are two players to keep an eye on here with the pair very much in contention to win the Champions League top scorer award this season.
Porto vs Arsenal (75-FT)
Not many teams have a better record at scoring late on in matches than Arsenal with Arteta's men enjoying several stoppage-time goals over the past couple of seasons. In their last four matches, three goals have come after the 75th minute and the Gunners are making a habit of finishing matches strongly regardless of the scoreline.
Going away from home in Europe is never easy and Arsenal will be looking to keep things tight early on before potentially exploding in the second half. Gaps are likely to open up and their pace on the counterattack with Martinelli and Saka on the wings could be crucial in Porto.
The Portuguese outfit are also partial to a late goal themselves – they have scored three goals after the 75th minute in their last four matches so don't rule them out springing a shock when the two sides meet on Wednesday night.
Napoli vs Barcelona (Second half)
Barcelona are one of the most prolific teams in the second half in all of Europe. Xavi's men are famously slow starters but by the second half of games, they have usually hit their stride and are a force to be reckoned with. Ten of the last 12 goals Barcelona have scored have come in the second half so Napoli will need to be on guard for the entire match if they are to have any joy on Wednesday night.
What makes matters even more interesting is the fact that Napoli are also a team that typically performs better in the second half of games. Five of the last seven goals Napoli have scored have come after half time and with Victor Osimhen back in their team following his run to the AFCON 2023 final with Nigeria, there is every chance they will get on the scoresheet on Wednesday.
