Stoke vs Sheffield United: Our top betting tips

Sheffield United remain on top of the Championship standings as we speak but they're getting pressurised from beneath with Norwich breathing down their necks. Can the Blades ensure they remain on top by winning here? Find out with our Stoke vs Sheffield United match preview with free tips, predictions and odds mentioned along the way.

Sheffield United to win

Sheffield United have experienced their first little wobble of the season in the last week as they've dropped five points but, despite that, we expect them to get back to winning ways here as they travel to the Bet365 stadium to take on Stoke. Stoke have been in poor form at home going winless in four including losing their last match 4-0 to Watford. Compare that form to Sheffield United's away displays and its chalk and cheese with the Blades having won each of their last three on the road whilst they've lost just on league away game all season. That form just simply does not point to a positive outcome for Stoke.

Someone will fail to score

Our next tip for this game looks to the both teams to score market and we are betting on ‘no'. Stoke have seen three of their last four matches end with a ‘nil' in the final scoreline whilst four of Sheffield United's last five games have seen someone blank in front of goal as well. When you then consider the last meeting between these teams saw just the solitary goal there is plenty of evidence to suggest someone might record a shutout. With odds of 5/6 (1.83) on offer as well, it's well worth a nibble.

Will Blades get back to winning ways?

Sheffield United have just experienced the worst back to back matches of their season so far having taken just one point from two games, however, they still remain top and therefore know that a win here will keep them in pole position ahead of the chasing pack. Stoke meanwhile were pathetic last time they played at home so owe their fans a much improved performance. With both sides in need of producing the goods, this could turn into a really decent match.

Stoke were much improved during the week compared to last weekend and, whilst they didn't win, we can see them naming an unchanged XI here. Phil Jagielka's experience at the back could be crucial to them in this match.

Stoke Predicted lineup – Bursik, Fox, Jagielka, Wilmot, Fosu, Sterling, Baker, Smallbone, Gayle, Delap, Campbell

One defeat and a draw is hardly a crisis when you're top of the league but Sheffield United will want to bounce back here just to stop doubts creeping in. They'll have to do so without a few players though; they have eight first teamers out injured including Enda Stevens, Jack O'Connell and Ben Osborn.

Sheffield United Predicted lineup – Foderingham, Basham, Egan, Norrington-Davies, Baldock, Berge, Norwood, Doyle, Bogle, McBurnie, Ndiaye
