Southampton vs Blackpool: FW Predictions
Two struggling teams from different divisions go head-to-head in the FA Cup this weekend as Southampton play host to Blackpool. We're sensing a possible upset in this game as the Saints have looked poor in their last two matches and sit bottom of the Premier League table.
Contents
Blackpool Double Chance
Blackpool have picked up two wins and three draws from their last six encounters with the Saints, so you can already see why we're backing the visitors with a double chance bet this weekend. Southampton have lost three of their last four home games in all competitions, while Blackpool have managed to pick up three draws and one win from their last six fixtures. Blackpool defeated Premier League opposition in the last round, thrashing Nottingham Forest 4-1.
Both Teams to Score
Both teams have scored in three of the last six meetings between these two clubs in league and cup, and we're expecting more of the same on Saturday. Southampton have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last six attempts while Blackpool have seen five of their last six games end with both teams finding the back of the net, adding further weight to our second prediction for this FA Cup 4th Round tie.

How will the teams lineups for this FA Cup clash?
Southampton
The Saints defeated Premier League opposition in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup, securing a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace. The Eagles took the lead in the 14th-minute but Ward-Prowse equalised before the break and in the second forty-five, Armstrong struck home the winner for Southampton.

Blackpool
Blackpool were on fire in the last round of the FA Cup, securing an impressive 4-1 win against Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Goals from Ekpiteta, Poveda-Ocampo, Hamilton and Yates put the Championship side 4-0 up with Forest pulling a consolation goal back in stoppage-time.

Player to Watch: Jerry Yates
Yates has proved to be an excellent signing for Blackpool since making the move from Swindon in 2020. In his first season with Blackpool, yates scored 21 league goals and helped his side secure promotion to the Championship where he then went on to score a further 8-goals.
This season, Yates has scored 9 league goals, as well as one goal in the FA Cup, and has proved himself to be a very good striker at this level, despite having failed to make the grade when playing for Rotherham in the second tier.
If Blackpool are going to cause an upset this weekend then we would back Yates to play his part in that result. The striker is Blackpool's main source of goals alongside Madine, but Madine hasn't been as effective in front of goal, often providing assists for Yates.
Southampton will see much more of the ball in this game but Blackpool hammered Nottingham Forest in the last round, a game which yates scored in, so both he and the team, on the whole, will believe that they can get a decent result this weekend.
