Authenticity (4/5): Reliable outlet make bombshell claim
Manchester City are among the clubs chasing Southampton‘s sought-after talent Tyler Dibling, but the Saints' valuation has left interested Premier League clubs frustrated.
That is according to The Telegraph, who are certainly one of the most reliable sources for English football updates.
Value (1/5): Frustrating demands
Southampton are ready to demand more than £100million for their breakthrough winger, who is contracted to the club until 2027. They consider Dibling to be one of the best youngsters in English football and are accordingly keen to bag a record fee for his services. However, it's tough to see any side come anywhere near that figure.
Suitability (3.5/5): Versatile talent
Dibling has made only 25 appearances in the Premier League and has just six goal involvements this term. However, he has earned plaudits for his technical prowess and insane versatility that often sees him being deployed across the final third.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Threat for Savinho
Dibling primarily plays as a right-winger at Southampton and should Pep Guardiola decide to spend a big fee on luring him to the Etihad, it's fair to assume he will continue playing in his natural position, and ahead of Savinho, who currently occupies the right wing at City.
Logic (2/5): Not the best place for his development
Considering how the likes of Jack Grealish, Savinho, and Jeremy Doku have fared under Guardiola, City don't appear to be the best destination for young wingers to make their mark. As such, Dibling should move to a club where he will get time and patience to develop into an elite attacker.
Whisper+ verdict: 14/25
Southampton may have put insane demands but with relegation on the cards, the Saints would find it hard to keep hold of Dibling for long.
