Match Preview, Team Information, and Slavia Praha vs QPR Lineups
Slavia Praha
It was a disappointing end to the last season for Slavia who failed to take the league title for the second straight season. They are the seven-time champions of the Czech Republic and failing to get another trophy hurt their fan base. They did, however, win the domestic cup title. The new league season will start in two weeks which doesn't leave much time to finalize the preparation period. Slavia has one of the largest squads you will see, there are 43 players currently on the roster. A few of the players left on a free transfer, but the one that hurt the most is connected to Peter Olaynika who scored 50 goals in 183 appearances for the club. The Nigerian player joined Red Star Belgrade. Conrad Wallem and Muhamed Tijani are the biggest signings.
Expected lineup: Kolar, Holes, Ogbu, Boril, Tomic, Hromada, Zafeiris, Masopust, Doudera, Lingr, Tijani.
QPR
There hasn't been much business for the Championship side this summer as they prepare for another shot at promotion to the Premier League. Taylor Richards, Ziyad Larkeche, and Paul Smythe are meaningful additions to the team while Rob Dickie has been sold to Bristol City. Gareth Ainsworth will continue to coach the team, he joined the club in February with a contract running out in 2026. It has been a while since the last time QPR played in the Premiership and with the current spending limit at the club, it is going to be another challenging season for the London-based club.
Expected lineup: Archer, Dunne, Clarke-Salter, Paal, Kakay, Field, Dozzell, Richard, Dixon-Bonner, Adomah, Armstrong.
Player to Watch: Ondrej Lingr
The 24-year-old wing player is the most valuable player on Slavia's roster and it is a question mark whether he will start the season in the Czech Republic capital as there is a strong rumored interest from Greek side Panathinaikos. Lingr was capped six times by the Czech Republic national team.
This should be his fourth season at the club after joining from Karvina where he was raised from a young age. Lingr scored 39 goals with eleven assists for Slavia while playing in 134 games. His market value has risen considerably in the last year after an impressive showing this past season.
Starting lineups
Starting lineups are usually released 60 minutes before kick-off.
