Serie A predictions 2025/26

Serie A is the highest rank of Italian football and one of the best football leagues in Europe. The league is also referred to as the “Scudetto” because the winners are not only awarded the Campioni d’Italia title, but are also presented with a scudetto (little shield), which is a decorative patch with colours of the Italian flag that the winners wear on their jerseys the following season.

Founded all the way back in 1929 as a round-robin top-tier league, Serie A is one of the oldest European leagues and has always been very popular. Furthermore, Italian teams are consistently among the best in Europe.

2025-26 fixtures announced

Earlier than usual, the fixtures for the upcoming Serie A season have been announced less than two weeks after the end of the previous campaign.

The pick of the opening day fixtures will see Pisa make their Serie A return away to Atalanta, while two clubs who ended the season in phenomenal form, Roma and Bologna, will lock horns at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, it is the final day which looks most riveting, with Bologna hosting potential title-winners Inter Milan, Fiorentina welcoming Atalanta to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and Juventus visiting city rivals Torino.

No team has retained the title since Juventus in 2019-20, and there has been four different winners in that time, so ahead of a season of change and upheaval at many clubs, it has never been more difficult to call.

Behind Inter, Napoli are second-favourites at 5/2, while Juventus are 4/1, AC Milan are 5/1 and potential dark horses Roma are priced at 10/1.

Relegation candidates – Exciting battle for survival

Odds for relegation are yet to be released, but the favourites for the drop are set to beat newly-promoted Pisa, and playoff winners Cremonese, who beat Spezia for a place in Serie A in early June.

After narrowly avoiding the drop in 2024-25, Lecce, Hellas Verona and Cagliari could be in for another difficult campaign, but on their return after a surprise relegation, Sassuolo are a bit of an unknown quantity.
