Senegal have won both their games at this year's AFCON and have already booked their spot in the next round of the tournament. The only thing to play for is topping the group, and they only have to draw against Guinea to secure that.
Therefore, it will likely be a rotated Senegal side to ensure their star players are rested and protected from injury. So, we are going to delve into the first goal scorer market and see who are the favourites and what kind of value is on offer.
Senegal first goalscorer odds – Our picks
Sadio Mane – (11/2)
While Senegal have very little to play for, their star man and golden player, Sadio Mane, will be itching to get back out on the pitch and add to his tally as he goes in search of a Golden Boot award. Mane has one goal so far this tournament which was a second-half added-time strike in their previous match against Cameroon which confirmed all three points.
It would perhaps be sensible to rest Mane, but keeping him in a rhythm and playing regular football could benefit the winger. Mane can play either out wide or through the middle which makes him a solid option when it comes to being the first goal scorer, as well as being on set pieces and penalties.
Nicolas Jackson – (13/2)
Despite being the main striker at Chelsea and starting 19 games in the league this season, Jackson has found himself stuck to the bench in the Ivory Coast so far. Jackson has only started two games for his country and is still yet to find the back of the net.
However, with Senegal already confirmed through to the next stage of AFCON, Jackson could be handed a rare start. If the Chelsea striker is allowed to run wild from the start, then he could get on the scoresheet for the very first time, especially against a Guinea side who know they must win and go for all three points if they wish to top the group.
So, this means that Guinea could well leave plenty of space behind their defence and allow Jackson to play on the final shoulder, something he does well and can utilise his pace.
Habib Diallo – (7/1)
Habib Diallo has been tasked with leading the line for The Teranga Lions and has done so with ease and impressed at the same time. One goal in the first two games is certainly respectable, while his all-round play has helped make Mane a danger throughout matches.
However, if Senegal want to go all the way, then they will need Diallo to offer more in the box and finish off his chances. From the first two games, Diallo is averaging just 1.37 shots on target per 90 minutes, meaning that he's not offering much of a threat in the danger areas. With the threat of Jackson behind him and chomping to get off the bench, he may just be pushed on to thrive.
Lamine Camara – (13/1)
Lamine Camara has only burst onto the scene with FC Metz this season in Ligue 1 but already looks set to be a very top talent. Camara is currently the joint-second top scorer at this year's AFCON having netted a brace against Gambia.
The midfielder is so young and relatively inexperienced that he has no fear and knows no better than to venture forward and take risks which is benefiting his nation so much. Given his tender age and bundles of energy, there's no reason to rest him against Guinea, so could be a very shrewd option when it comes to the first goal-scorer market.
While it is far from a guarantee that he even gets on the scoresheet given Camara has just one goal in club football during his short career, but looks to be thriving on the international stage and playing full of confidence.
