Umaro Embalo could be the latest Portuguese sensation to swap Lisbon for Manchester, according to reports in A Bola.
The 16-year-old Benfica winger is a Manchester United transfer target and the Red Devils are prepared to sanction a deal worth close to £12million to secure his services ahead of a number of other clubs.
Earlier in the month, reports emerged to suggest José Mourinho and the recruitment team at Old Trafford had agreed a £5million deal for the teenager.
But with strong interest from Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Liverpool and neighbours Manchester City, that fee has risen to £11.6million.
The Portuguese news outlet suggest United’s relationship with Benfica has put them in a commanding position and that the player could be plying his trade in the Premier League as soon as January.
Embalo predominantly plays on the right flank but the pacy winger is left footed and models himself on his idol, and former United player, Ángel Di María. If the move does materialise he’ll be hopeful his time in the North West of England is more successful than Di María’s.
In the video above we profile the youngster and look at why he’s so in-demand. Could he be United's new Cristiano Ronaldo?
