San Marino vs Seychelles: Football Whispers' Predictions
Two of the lowest ranked countries in the FIFA rankings go head-to-head on Wednesday night in an international friendly as San Marino play host to Seychelles. These two nations have never met before and are used to losing games and rarely scoring goals, so it will be interesting to see who gets the upper hand.
San Marino to Win
San Marino are the clear favourite with the bookmakers ahead of kick-off and that can only be based on the fact that they have the home advantage on Thursday and are used to playing against a higher level of opposition compared to Seychelles. We're still expecting a close and low-scoring game between the two countries, but San Marino have lots of experience within their ranks while most of Seychelles' players have under 20-caps to their name and all play locally.
Under 2.5 Goals
Under 2.5 goals have been produced in each of San Marino's last five outings in all competitions, while three of Seychelles' last six outings have seen fewer than three goals scored. Both teams often have trouble putting the ball into the back of the net and that could be an issue again on Wednesday but we expect San Marino to score at least one and the hosts are likely to keep a rare clean as well.
Everything you need to know about San Marino vs Seychelles
Seychelles face European opposition for the first time
While San Marin are in the midst of a losing streak, their performances of late have not been too bad. The hosts only conceded 1-goal in each of their last two international matches against Malta in the Nations League and against Iceland in a friendly but haven't scored since the 2-1 home defeat against Lithuania back in March.
San Marino Predicted Lineup: E. Benedettini, Palazzi, Rossi, Fabbri; D'Addario, Lunadei, Battistini, Tomassini, Grandoni; Vitaioli & Nanni
Seychelles have only scored 1-goal in their last six matches and during that time, the best team they have come up against is Angola. The visitors have failed to score in their last three fixtures, a 3-0 defeat to Madagascar, the 1-0 home loss against Madagascar and a 2-0 friendly defeat in Mauritius, which doesn't bode well ahead of their first game against European opposition.
Seychelles Predicted Lineup: Michel, Monnaie, Mellie, Brown, Marie, Fanchette; Nourrice, Balette; Labrosse, Henriette & Mothe
San Marino: Davide Simoncini, Cristian Brolli, Maicol Berretti, Luca Tosi, Filippo Berardi and Mattia Stefanelli all missed out on the last squad selection.
Seychelles: Juninho Mathiot will miss the game due to suspensions, while teammate Michael Mancienne has a knee injury.
