Paris St Germain have reportedly been encouraged by the interest shown by Cristiano Ronaldo over a summer move, according to the Sun. Ronaldo is currently in his third year at Juventus and it also happens to be the most disappointing for the Portuguese superstar since coming to Turin from Real Madrid. Juventus failed to win the league title even if they ended up with the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. On a personal level, this was a relatively successful campaign for Ronaldo, who won the Golden Boot title.
Ronaldo stated recently that he has been able to achieve all his expectations when he decided to switch to Juventus. This includes scoring 100+ goals in just 133 matches. Even though the 36-year-old has a contract with Juventus only until next summer, he has reportedly started looking at options elsewhere due to Juventus’ consistent failures in the Champions League.
Juventus went out of the Champions League in the last 16 stage.
As rumours have circulated about a return to Manchester United or Real Madrid, the interest from PSG would come as a major shock to potential suitors. There is every reason to believe that Ronaldo might take PSG’s interest quite seriously, as it would give him a great opportunity to prove in yet another top European league.
Ronaldo is already one of the iconic players in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, and Italian Serie A. PSG would help him pick up celebrated honours like the Ligue 1 title while also giving him an opportunity to aim for Champions League medals with three different clubs.
PSG have been unable to tie down Kylian Mbappe to a new contract and the 22-year-old only has just over 12 months left on his deal. If he leaves, PSG are sizing up Ronaldo as a replacement.
