Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is widely expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, as his contract situation does not seem to be in a situation to resolve any time soon. The midfielder’s agent, Mino Raiola, recently admitted that it is highly unlikely that Pogba would sign a new deal at United. The Frenchman, who was signed for a then-world record fee of £90 million, would be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs from January, as his contract runs out next summer.

United are becoming increasingly worried about losing the World Cup winner for free. PSG are reported to be one of the clubs keen on signing the 28-year-old. According to The Athletic, the French outfit have opened initially discussions with the midfielder to gauge his interest in making a move to the Parc des Princes.

In a desperate bid to keep the star asset, United reportedly offered to put a massive premium on the wages earned by Pogba. His current contract is worth around £250,000 per week, which already makes him one of the highest-earning midfielders in the Premier League. However, United had offered the Frenchman a £100,000 per week increase on his current wages if he agrees to a new contract. Yet, this has failed to entice Pogba, who was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid when Zinedine Zidane was around. Now, the interest from the Los Blancos has cooled down quite substantially and Pogba is favouring a move to the French capital.

United have already made two major acquisitions this summer with Jadon Sancho coming in for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane on the verge of a move from Real Madrid for around £41 million. The club’s transfer activity is certainly not over, as the Red Devils are reportedly targeting a central midfielder. If Pogba leaves Old Trafford this summer, it could heighten the search for a midfielder.
