It's a tense time of year for a Premier League players – and not just because there are plenty of points up for grabs over the packed festive period.

No, there is a far greater prize up for grabs: a Christmas off. For all the trappings of being a professional footballer, one of the distinct drawbacks is having to remain ultra professional through the festive period.

While fans love the packed Premier League schedule and get to eat and drink to their heart's content, it's all a little more restrained for the players who will be in on Christmas Day for a light session.
