Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton will be glad to see the back of Bournemouth after consecutive defeats to the Cherries in the last week.

On Sunday the Seagulls go up against Hughton's former club Newcastle United at the AmEx Stadium, looking to record their second Premier League win against the team who agonisingly beat them to the Championship title.

Albion have found fine margins to be the difference so far in their first foray into the Premier League but have only been truly outclassed once – by title favourites Manchester City.

They took the lead at Bournemouth in last weekend's league encounter, only for two goals in seven minutes to turn the game on its head, before losing to an extra-time strike in the League Cup in midweek.

But a fine 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in their last home fixture, a game in which Pascal Groß starred with two goals, the Seagulls will be keen to prove that was not a one-off.

Hughton is unlikely to shuffle his pack too radically for the visit of the side he led to the Championship title in 2010 but may have a dilemma on his hands between the sticks.

Brighton's loan deal for Newcastle keeper Tim Krul was made permanent in the week and the Dutch international was impressive in the League Cup loss at the Vitality Stadium.

With Mat Ryan enduring some shaky moments between the sticks, Hughton could be tempted to throw Krul in for his first Premier League appearance since October 2015 – a 6-1 thrashing at Manchester City.

Glenn Murray (knock), Bruno (back) and Izzy Brown (hamstring) are all doubts while Steve Sidwell (back), Beram Kayal (broken leg) and Sam Baldock (calf) are out for at least a month.
