Tottenham Hotspur will be confident of putting their domestic Wembley hoodoo behind them against Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side meet the Tykes in the Carabao Cup at the national stadium, with kick-off at 8pm.

Since temporarily moving from White Hart Lane, Spurs have failed to win at home in the league, drawing two and losing their other match at Wembley.

But despite that form, they will be expected to beat Barnsley.

Expect a number of changes in personnel as Pochettino uses the chance to give his underused squad members a proper run out.

Asked about Fernando Llorente in his pre-match press conference on Monday, the Argentine said: “Maybe he is going to play tomorrow, maybe he’s going to play in the starting XI. It was a difficult pre-season for him as he broke his arm and he needs to play to be fit.”

He added: “Georges-Kévin Nkoudou will be involved in the 18 players for tomorrow. It’s now been five days that been he’s with the group training (after his foot injury) – nearly a week. Maybe he will have the facility to play a little bit.

Harry Winks is much better. He’s better every day (as he recovers an ankle ligament injury) and maybe he has the facility to play in the starting XI.”

The Argentine also confirmed that Tashan Oakley-Boothe will be involved in the squad as well.

Érik Lamela, Danny Rose and Victor Wanyama are all still unavailable due to injuries though.
