Southampton showed signs of improvement in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Newcastle United and will look to secure a first Premier League win in four when they host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday (5.30pm).

The Saints are 11th after eight games but have won just twice, beating West Ham United in stoppage time and hapless Crystal Palace 1-0.

New head coach Mauricio Pellegrino has yet to truly stamp his mark on the South Coast side who are still struggling to score goals. Southampton have drawn blanks in four of their eight league games.

For last weekend's draw Pellegrino tried something different by setting his side up in a 4-4-2 system. The Argentine was rewarded with a point and a pair of goals for striker Manolo Gabbiadini.

It seems likely, therefore, that Southampton will start in the same shape again with Gabbiadini partnered by the tireless Shane Long up front. Charlie Austin would be the alternative but he is out of favour at St Mary's.

Pellegrino has a fully-fit squad to pick from, with only full-back Jérémy Pied (knock) in danger of missing out.
