Watford have had a week to get over the disappointment of leading champions Chelsea only to lose, dust themselves down and prepare for Saturday's visit from Stoke City in the Premier League.

The Hornets got plenty of plaudits for their gallant 4-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge, having led 2-1 early in the second half, but Marco Silva won't be satisfied by credit alone. The Portuguese will be only too aware that points matter most.

Saturday sees struggling Stoke come to Vicarage Road, looking for a much-needed win after going down 2-1 at home to Bournemouth a week ago. Manager Mark Hughes finds himself under pressure but the Hornets – the Premier League's surprise package – will be desperate to pile on the misery.

Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra will miss out after suffering a knock at Chelsea. Silva could, therefore, bring André Carrillo into the starting XI on the right-hand side of a front three.

The Portuguese tactician has switched from a back four to three-man defence in the last two games and could stick with that for the Potters' visit as they too play with wing-backs.

Also missing are Isaac Success (knee), Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Younès Kaboul (hamstring), Sebastian Prödl (hamstring), Tommie Hoban (ACL) and Craig Cathcart (knee).
