Liverpool are in crisis. Jürgen Klopp is without three of his first-choice back four going into Saturday's match against Leicester City. Joël Matip has joined Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne on the injury list with both centre-backs unlikely to start at the King Power Stadium.

Emre Can is carrying a knock and may sit the Premier League fixture out in order to be fit the Champions League tie against Spartak Moscow on Tuesday. Barcelona transfer target Philippe Coutinho isn't match fit but will likely start while Sadio Mané is still suspended.

It means Klopp is without five first-team players as well as being unable to call upon the services of Adam Lallana.  It's not an ideal situation for the Reds who are yet to win a match in the month of September.

Furthermore, there are still question marks as to who is the first-choice left-back with Alberto Moreno and Andrew Robertson currently timesharing the job. That won't help with consistency.

The Liverpool manager has some big decisions to make and a selection headache he could have done without. It's finely balanced at the minute with Klopp just about having enough numbers to cope with the injuries.

However, both Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson have had injury issues in the past and the increase in playing time over such a short period may see them break down again. This is where the former Borussia Dortmund manager will really earn his money.

Taking a depleted Liverpool side to face a manager he's yet to win against with the most pressure he's had on his shoulders since taking over at Anfield. He needs to get his starting XI right.
