The optimism around Goodison Park over the summer, fostered by club-record levels of spending to equip Everton for a top-six push, has been trampled.

As such, manager Ronald Koeman is fighting to save his job. Everton welcome Arsenal to Merseyside on Sunday afternoon – hardly the kind of softball fixture the Dutch coach would be hoping for right now – and a positive result may be required if a change of manager is to be avoided.
The Toffees did, however, manage to beat the Gunners in this fixture last season, picking up a 2-1 win over Arsène Wenger's men in December 2016. What Koeman wouldn't give for a repeat performance…
