David Unsworth remains the Everton interim manager – for now – and takes his side to struggling Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Toffees are looking for back-to-back wins for the first time in the league this season against Roy Hodgson's side, who are desperate to avoid being cut adrift at the foot of the table.

During the international break, Everton failed in their attempts to find a permanent successor to Ronald Koeman after having an approach for Watford's Marco Silva rebuffed. With Silva out of the running presumably, Unsworth remains a contender for the job and can bolster his claim with another three points at Selhurst Park.

He will be without midfielder Tom Davies, though, after he picked up a hamstring injury on England Under-21 international duty. He joins Cuco Martina, James McCarthy, Ramiro Funes Mori, Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie on the increasingly crowded treatment tables at Goodison Park.

Muhamed Bešić is in contention to replace Davies, but Morgan Schneiderlin is also back from suspension.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be preferred to Wayne Rooney in attack after coming off the bench to score in the 3-2 win over Watford last time out, while Oumar Niasse is expected to once again lead the line.
