Crystal Palace’s start to the season has been record-– just not in the way they would have hoped.
They became the first side to lose their opening four opening games without scoring when they lost to Burnley last month. But things have only got worse having failed to get a point or a goal in any of their opening seven matches, despite sacking Frank de Boer and replacing him with Roy Hodgson after that defeat to the Clarets.
Only Portsmouth in 2009/10 went as long as the Eagles before registering their first points of a Premier League campaign – recording a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their eighth game.
Palace will hope their eighth league game will bring a similar fate, but it will not be easy against reigning champions Chelsea.
But Palace will have to go in search for their first goal of the season without a recognised striker with Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham injured.
Bakary Sako is likely to continue up front in a 4-2-3-1, while Wilfried Zaha could be fit enough to make the bench after not playing since the first game of the season.
