West Ham United boss Slaven Bilić might have been frustrated with Andy Carroll after the striker's red card last weekend, but the burly target man's absence could mean that the Hammers look to play a more grounded style of football when they host Brighton & Hove Albion this Friday.

The manager would have been concerned about his striking options when Javier Hernández took a knock in training on Tuesday, but a scan has since revealed that fears of a hamstring strain were premature, and that the Mexican should be fit enough to start at the London Stadium.

After a slow start to the season West Ham fans will be expecting their team to take all three points from the visit of Brighton, whilst keeping one eye on a trip to Wembley next week.

The Hammers will travel across the capital to face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, and a win there would significantly boost support for Bilić and morale among fans.
