Mauricio Pochettino will have to earn his salary this weekend. Hosting Bournemouth at Wembley may not seem like the biggest task of his managerial – and in isolation it's not – but just three days later Spurs travel to Madrid to face Champions League holders Real Madrid in matchday three of this season's competition.

He has decisions to make. Big ones at that. After two wins from two in Group H, Spurs don't have to win in the Spanish capital. But Pochettino will want to go toe to toe with Europe's best to prove he has what it takes to manage in the best club competition.

The former Southampton boss has failed to live up to expectation in previous seasons but his Spurs side impressed in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund. Putting on a show against Zinedine Zidane's all-stars would be a statement.

To do just that he needs the strongest possible XI at his disposal. This is were it becomes difficult. Does he play a weakened team against the Cherries or does he gamble and start the likes of the in-form Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen?

Spurs are already five points behind the leaders in the Premier League. If that gap extends to eight after eight matches, with Liverpool to play next weekend, their title challenge may be on the rocks before October comes to an end.

Dele Alli is expected to start with him suspended for the Champions League tie. Serge Aurier is no longer suspended but the suggestions are his Champions League experience will see him get the nod on Tuesday meaning Kieran Trippier will face Eddie Howe's men.

Will squad players Harry Winks, Fernando Llorente, Moussa Sissoko and Heung-Min Son get a start this weekend? Tough decisions ahead for Pochettino.
