After their 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, giving themselves three points of breathing space in second place in the Premier League, Manchester United will be confident of dispatching Benfica at Old Trafford tonight to make it four wins from four since their Champions League return.

The Reds Devils overcame the Portuguese champions in Lisbon two weeks ago but they didn't have it all their own way. A sluggish performance from José Mourinho‘s side required a goalkeeping error from 18-year-old rookie Milas Svilar, who carried a Marcus Rashford free-kick across the goal line, in order to secure a narrow 1-0 win.

However, United, in theory, should have their bounce back after a morale-boosting win over a Premier League rival in the shape of Spurs.

Benfica haven't had the best start to the season, currently third in Liga NOS, behind rivals Sporting Lisbon and Porto, and bottom of Group A in the Champions League with zero points and a minus-seven goal difference.

United will be without long-term absentees Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marcos Rojo. It remains to be seen whether Mourinho elects to stick with the 3-4-1-2 formation that trumped Tottenham or revert to 4-2-3-1, and Anthony Martial will be in contention for a starting place after coming off the bench to score the winning goal on Saturday.

Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia are set to be rested, so Victor Lindelöf is likely to start against his former side, while Ashley Young could move across to right wing-back with Daley Blind coming in on the left.
