Moussa Dembélé Transfer Fee: Full Details of the Al Ettifaq Deal

Moussa Dembélé has been a bit of a legend in terms of French football during his day. And at 27 years of age, he is still making the headlines in one way or another. However, this time he is in the headlines due to reports of Dembélé’s transfer fee and his rather lucrative deal to join Al-Ettifaq – a team that plays in the Saudi Pro League.

Of course, he has chosen to head to that league to enhance his career earnings quite substantially, yet he is one of the younger players to have made such a move this Summer. At Al-Ettifaq, Dembele will play alongside Jordan Henderson with the England midfielder's transfer to the Saudi outfit also confirmed earlier today.

In case you missed the news reports, Dembélé has left his club of five years, Lyon, in search of a new challenge at Al-Ettifaq. And since all of the papers have been signed already, it’s official that Dembélé will be playing as a striker for this team in the 23/24 season. As for details of Dembélé’s transfer concerning the fees and what he stands to earn, check out the details below.

Dembélé Transfer Fee

Due to Dembélé being out of contract at Lyon at the end of the 22/23 season, Lyon was forced to let him move to Al-Ettifaq on a free transfer. Amazingly, he isn’t the first to join the Saudi Pro League on a free transfer this Summer, and I doubt that he will be the last. Then again, it’s always tricky with top players and their respective clubs when it comes to striking mutually beneficial deals, especially if either party is dissatisfied. So it’s not a huge shock that he’s exited the club to join Al-Ettifaq as a free agent.

With this said, while he has moved to the club as a free agent, Dembélé is estimated to have a market value of approximately €12 million. Therefore, one would expect that his salary and bonuses will be rather attractive with respect to his approximate value.

Details of Dembélé’s New Contract

At the time of writing, details surrounding Dembélé’s weekly/monthly salary are yet to become public knowledge. In fact, given that he has only just signed for the club, it would be surprising if these details were instantly released. Subsequently, we will all need to hang tight before we know exactly what Dembélé will receive in terms of financial incentives at Al-Ettifaq. But with that said, it is public knowledge that Dembélé has signed a four-year deal with the Saudi Pro League club.

In doing so, he joins the likes of Jordan Henderson and Jack Hendry – two of the most recent signings for Al-Ettifaq this Summer. And since Henderson has more than tripled his weekly salary by joining Al-Ettifaq, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Dembélé to receive something similar. However, Henderson was on a far greater salary by playing for Liverpool in comparison to Dembélé at Lyon.

Yet if Dembélé’s weekly salary was to triple at Al-Ettifaq, which would be a similar deal to Jordan Henderson, he could easily be pulling in around £150,000 per week. With that said, I must stress that these are currently estimates, as the full details of Dembélé’s new contract have yet to be revealed.
