Former midfielder Matt Holland made over 700 senior appearances in a career that spanned 15 years, and now enjoys a successful post-retirement career as a pundit for the BBC.
In the latest episode of Behind The Lines, Football Whispers TV sits down with one of the most popular ex-footballers in the media to talk about what made him such an integral player at Bournemouth, Ipswich Town and Charlton Atletic.
Holland was made captain of Bournemouth at the age of 22, missed just one league game in six years while at Ipswich – where he was also skipper – before finishing his career with a significant stint at Charlton, where, again, he was made captain.
Indeed, Holland was repeatedly praised for his leadership and reliability both on and off the pitch, and in our latest Behind The Lines we spend time with the man who seemed to exemplify both traits.
