Fiorentina have conceded that it may be difficult to keep Dusan Vlahovic at the club amidst interest from Manchester City. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the top talents in the Italian Serie A. The Serbian international joined Dusan Vlahovic as a youngster back in 2018 for around €2 million. Now, he could leave the Italian outfit for a fee in the region of €50 million, according to Goal.com.
Manchester City have been looking across Europe for potential names who can replace Sergio Aguero. After failing to land their top transfer target of the summer, Harry Kane, City did not pursue any other names. However, Pep Guardiola will be back in the transfer market by January even if City continue to maintain their excellent start to the season. Dusan Vlahovic has been identified as a player who could potentially fill the boots of Aguero.
The 21-year-old came up with a remarkable 21 goals and two assists last season. He has been proving his doubters wrong by making a strong start with three goals in three league matches. Once goals in the Italian Cup are also considered, they would stand at a very healthy five goals in just four games. Harry Kane would have cost City around £150 million. Even if the club do have the financial prowess to pull off such a deal, the club’s hierarchy are starting to see Vlahovic as a viable option, who is much less expensive and a lot younger.
City are very likely to face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid, who have also been keeping tabs on the player. The striker has a contract with Fiorentina until 2023 and the club are working hard to extending this deal. If not, Fiorentina would be in a precarious position come January or next summer.
