Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (4.5/5): Sky Sports with a major claim
Manchester United remain interested in RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons. The Netherlands international was on their radar last summer as well before the Bundesliga outfit secured his services on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain in January.
The story comes from the very reputed Sky Sports, who are certainly one of the best sources in European football.
Value (2.5/5): Massive price tag
The 21-year-old is enjoying another prolific season in Germany, having scored eight goals and registered five assists in all competitions.
Accordingly, it is not going to be easy for United to sign him from Leipzig, who will reportedly demand a fee in the region of £67million to part ways with the highly-rated Dutchman.
Suitability (4/5): Manipulator in possession
Simons is a joy to watch when in possession of the ball. His low centre of gravity and impeccable technical prowess allows him to move the ball seamlessly in tight spaces and his deceptive pace allows him to explode whenever there's a space to exploit.
Upgrade? (4/5): Another creator
Ruben Amorim heavily relies on Bruno Fernandes to create chances through the middle and could certainly do with another elite playmaker in his starting lineup. Simons could prove to be a brilliant option if he is deployed just behind the striker in one of the two number 10 positions in Amorim's 3-4-3 setup.
Logic (4/5): Another shot at the big stage
Simons has done impressively well at PSV and Leipzig but struggled to showcase his talents at PSG. Accordingly, a possible move to United would allow him to test his skill sets at the highest level, and under the intense spotlight, once again.
Whisper+ verdict: 19/25
Simons appears ready for a big move but United's financial predicament could make this deal very difficult to materialise.
