Former Liverpool favourite Luis García has told Philippe Coutinho: “Stay at Liverpool and earn a statue” at Anfield.
The Brazilian midfielder has been a Barcelona transfer target since the summer and rumours continue to suggest the Catalan club will make another move for the midfield maestro.
Despite Coutinho agitating for a move away during the final month of the summer transfer window he's started the season like he has a point to prove and netted his first hat-trick for the club in the 7-0 demolition of Spartak Moscow in the Champions League recently. It took his tally to nine goals and six assists in 14 appearances this campaign.
According to recent reports, Coutinho wants to hold showdown talks with the Merseyside club this month in an attempt to convince Jürgen Klopp to let him leave before the World Cup.
But García, who scored 30 goals in three seasons at Anfield, believes Coutinho should remain on Merseyside.
García, who was speaking at the Star Sixes event at London's O2 Arena back in July, also spoke about scoring sensation Mo Salah and tipped him to be a success during his second spell in the Premier League.
