Top Predictions and Odds for Loon-Plage vs Reims

This will be another match where a Ligue 1 team will be a huge favorite against an opponent that is a part of the Sixth Tier of the French league hierarchy.

Over 4.5 Goals

Reims doesn't have the attacking force that will dominate games, but they are more than good enough to do just that against Sixth Tier opponents like Loon-Plage, with all the respect towards their opponents. Reims is in the middle of a very good, encouraging season in Ligue 1, and will be hoping to continue that kind of form in the Cup competition.

Both Teams to Score – No

Even though they allowed 23 goals in 17 games this season, Reims' defense has been their proud asset. There were games this term where their defense was the key to making sure the score remains positive for their team. Loon-Plage doesn't have the quality that Ligue 1 teams possess, so the visitors will be looking to get a clear victory on this day.

Team News, Provisional Lineups, and Preview for Loon-Plage vs Reims

Loon-Plage

This is a small club from the commune of the same name in the North of France. They are playing their football in Regional 1, which is a league in the Sixth Tier of the league system in the country. There are not many relevant results that this team achieved over the years, their focus was to build a solid community club that the people in the region will feel proud of. Their participation in the French Cup is a joyous occasion for the people around the commune and further away, especially when teams from Ligue 1 are visiting. It is an event that the whole community is looking forward to witnessing. Loon-Plage has been mostly a regular participant in the Cup competition, their first appearance was made in 2005 when they beat Courcell. They had to wait another four years for a second chance to compete, and once again they achieved one victory. Five years later, in 2014. they beat Herouville before losing to Saint-Omer. For the last two years, they have been more active in the Cup, their biggest achievement was last season when they reached the round of 64 losing to the more familiar team Boulogne by 3-0. This season they beat Teteghem away with an impressive score of 4-1 and then went a step further by beating Oissel, again away, on penalties.

Provisional lineup: Bouchard, F. Terrier, De Meyer, Laouar, Debordeaux, Huysman, M. Terrier, Leblanc, Boudaud, Tropchaud, Drame.

Reims

Many people will not know but Reims has a terrific history of football achievements, even though it was a long time ago. In 1956 this was a club that played in the European Cup final which is today's Champions League, and they lost to Real Madrid. Their biggest success came in a period from 1948 to 1966 when they won six Ligue 1 titles and a couple of French Cup trophies. Those times have little relevance to what is happening today. After being relegated from the First Division in 2016, they needed two years to get back to where they believed that they belong. In 2020 they even qualified for the Europa League qualification stage. Last season they finished 12th in the league, and at the moment are even better than that, currently holding onto the tenth position. The brightest star of the season for Reims is Folarin Balogun, a young English striker who is on loan from Arsenal and he scored exactly half of all the goals his team recorded in Ligue 1 this term.

Provisional lineup: Diouf, Foket, Agbadou, Abdelhamid, De Smet, Munetsi, Matusiwa, Ito, Flips, van Bergen, Holm.

Starting lineups

Starting lineups are usually released 60 minutes before kick-off.

Player to Watch: Junji Ito

The Japanese player was bought this past summer and made an impression straight away. He is the second-best scorer in the team with four goals, but his runs from the right side of the field are the key for Reims this season.
