With the Reds flying high at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool transfer betting tips are increasing as the January market is now open.
The Merseyside club holds top spot in the table with a three-point after one game in 2024. Stalwarts of Mohammed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have impressed once again this season.
At the same time, up-and-comers Dominik Szoboszlai, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have started to prove themselves as key regulars under Jurgen Klopp.
Yet, there is always room for improvement and with the January transfer window now open Liverpool have been linked with several world-class players to bolster their ranks.
Liverpool transfer targets, rumours and odds
Reds on the Title Push
With 13 wins and just one defeat in 20 Premier League matches has shot Liverpool into early title contention.
As the demands of a testing season build into 2024, and with a chasing pack of Aston Villa, Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham hot on Liverpool’s heels, Klopp could eye up some squad reinforcements in the January transfer window.
Additional Depth Required
Beyond their title push, Liverpool are also competing in the Europa League and England’s two major cup competitions.
To challenge on all four fronts, Klopp needs greater depth and challenge for positions. The loss of Salah to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations may also force the German coach to dip into the market for a new attacking threat.
Liverpool transfer betting tips – Latest Odds
Kylian Mbappe – 4/1
Liverpool have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe since the summer transfer window. The former World Cup winner has just six months remaining on his current contract in Paris, which has sparked a host of transfer rumours in recent months.
However, the 25-year-old is reportedly interested in joining Liverpool and working with Klopp at Anfield. Mbappe is considered as the long-term successor to Salah, who has led the Reds line since 2017.
Although Liverpool appears to be one of the frontrunners for Mbappe’s signature, they are likely to face stiff competition. Most notably, European giants Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of the French star. Equally, Saudi Arabian interest, and potentially world record-breaking fees could also work against Liverpool’s race for Mbappe.
Joshua Kimmich – 7/1
Experienced Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has been a transfer target for several top European clubs recently. Barcelona were the leading club to sign for the German international signature in the summer. But Liverpool and Man United have emerged as the most recent suitors.
Kimmich’s Bayern contract expires in June 2025 and Liverpool could make an early offer to snap up the unsettled midfielder. Moreover, Klopp could see Kimmich as an ideal partner for Wataru Endo in the holding midfield position. The German international would also add greater depth to challenge Ryan Gravernberch in this position.
With the challenges of fighting in four major competitions in 2024, Kimmich’s addition would add plenty of steel and experience in the heart of Liverpool’s midfield.
Hwang Hee-Chan – 12/1
Wolves striker Hwang Hee-Chan has been a leading star for Wolves since joining in 2022. The South Korean forward has scored 11 Premier League goals so far in 2023/24 and his performances have piqued Liverpool’s interest recently.
Hwang is a proven goalscorer with plenty of potential and could be considered as another long-term replacement for Salah. The 27-year-old’s availability could be a barrier though, as he recently extended his contract with Wolves, which runs until 2028.
Michael Olise – 12/1
Another rising Premier League star Liverpool are reportedly monitoring is Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The 22-year-old recently recovered from an early season injury and has hit the ground running in South London. In his last four league matches, Olise made one assist and scored four goals.
In recent performances, Olise has shown the capabilities and goalscoring potential that would suit Klopp’s high-octane style. His dribbling ability and direct approach would provide similar threats to the likes of Nunez and Diaz.
Yet the French player also signed a four-year contract extension with the Eagles during the summer. As a result, the Reds would have to offer a significant bid to lure Olise away from Selhurst Park.
