Liverpool‘s 7-0 drubbing of Maribor in the Champions League sees them come into Sunday's tussle at Tottenham Hotspur in high spirits.

The players involved in this trip to Slovenia will be full of confidence after their record breaking goal-scoring exploits, which saw them become the highest scoring English side in an Champions League away game.

The performance also gives Jürgen Klopp a couple of selection headaches, especially with James Milner performing so well on his return to the side in one of the more advanced midfield positions.

Captain Jordan Henderson sat on the bench, and the midfield of Milner and Emre Can looked well oiled, with Georginio Wijnaldum less prominent.

This gives the manager four players for three positions, or five if he includes Barcelona transfer target Philippe Coutinho in this and plays Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who came off the bench to score in midweek, in one of the attacking roles.

At right back Joe Gomez could come back into the side ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold, while the use of goalkeeper Loris Karius in Champions League games only should see Simon Mignolet return to the side in league action.

In his pre-match press conference the manager described the importance of counter pressing, and the German goalkeeper's sweeper tendencies could suit this type of play better than Mignolet's.

“Am I 100 per cent sure we will do it [counter-pressing] again? Not so far. But I am hoping so because it will be key against Tottenham who are fantastic football team,” said Klopp.

The Reds boss also said that the game would be a “nice football game every supporter will look forward to.” Here's hoping.
